Episode 10 – Ontologies & DOL with guest Dr. Fabian Neuhaus [EN]

Broadcast date: April 30, 19:00 CET – Language: English

In this episode, we look at ontologies in general and the OMG DOL specification in particular. DOL stands for Distributed Ontology, Model, and Specification Language.

In recent years, the topic of “ontology” has become increasingly important in systems engineering. A good reason to take a closer look at this topic. Many people talk about ontologies, but do they always mean the same thing. What actually is an ontology? We could win Dr. Fabian Neuhaus as our guest for this topic. Fabian is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Knowledge and Language Engineering at the University of Magdeburg, Germany.  He is also a co-lead of the OMG Ontology Integration and Interoperability (OntoIOp) standardization activity which developed the DOL specification.

  1. Thanks a lot, Fabian, Christian and Tim for the interesting insights! You strengthen my view, that in systems engineering as well as the whole product lifecycle we need to put partial information of a product into a common context … and that ontologies can play an important role. Oskar
